# Prerequisites

Before you can use MySQL as a source in a Qlik Compose project, make sure that the following prerequisites have been met:

* The MySQL database should be configured with the required [Permissions](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/compose/December2024/Content/ComposeDWDL/Main/DW/Data%20Source%20Connections/data_source_permissions.htm) and accessible from the Compose machine.

  The following MySQL editions are supported:

  * MySQL Community Edition
  * MySQL Standard Edition
  * MySQL Enterprise Edition
  * MySQL Cluster Carrier Grade Edition

* MySQL ODBC 64-bit client must be installed on the same computer as Qlik Compose.
